Tickets are available from members for the May 1, 2010 take-out only
Spring Chow Mein Supper. Cost is $10, and it will be a drive-through
as in the Fall Supper last October.
Hanamatsuri - April 11, 2010
Plan on attending the important Jodo Shinshu service to commemorate the birth of the historic Buddha. The service will be held April 11 at 2 p.m.

The Membership Town Hall Meeting will be held Saturday, January 16 at 1:00 p.m. at the temple. Members are encouraged to attend this important
gathering to discuss BTSA membership.
BTSA Bodhi Day Bake Sale - 2:00-4:00 p.m. December 5, 2009
Check out our unique crafts and much sought after specialty food items such as sushi, manju, and mein noodles. There will also be home baking for the holidays and much more! Free admission.
Plan to attend the Alberta Buddhist Conference November 13-15, with guest speaker Rev. Ken Yamada of the Berkeley (California) Higashi Hongwanji Temple. All events will take place at the temple. View the ABC 2009 web page for the full program of events and download the registration form here.
Removal of Board Meeting Documents
The BTSA Board of Directors decided at its October meeting to cease uploading minutes of and reports from its regular meetings onto the website. The board felt that much in the minutes and reports is not for general public consumption to anyone who can access the site. A set of monthly minutes and reports will be available in a convenient binder at the temple to all interested members. Only the minutes and reports of the annual general meeting will be posted on the website.
Funeral Fair - Saturday, October 24, 2009
The BTSA is providing a one day information fair for the general public about funerals, estate planning, personal directives, writing a will and other matters concerning end of life issues
Fall Chow Mein Supper - Oct. 17, 2-5 p.m.
The Fall Chow Mein Supper will be a drive-through, take-out, with entrance and exit only by the north driveway. Please refer to the traffic flow map here. We ask all patrons (1) to drive one-way around the temple in a counter-clockwise fashion; and (2) to proceed eventually to the building’s east entrance where tickets will be taken and suppers handed out; then (3) to exit via the north driveway. The south driveway will be closed to all traffic. Please remain in your vehicles to expedite the procedure. Tickets are $9 each and are available from members.

BON ODORI and OBON SERVICE - The annual BTSA Obon odori will be held
July 18 at the Galt Gardens at 6:30 p.m., with dancing beginning at 7
p.m. Dance practices are on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the temple. This
year's festivities will include the sale of Japanese food - sushi,
manju, sembei and kori (sno-cones), craft items, as well as children's
activities and a taiko demonstration. All who attend, children and
adults are invited to join the circle of dancers and fully participate
in the festivities. The annual BTSA Obon services will be held the
following day, July 19, with the cemetery service at Mountview
Cemetery at 1 p.m. and the temple service at 2:30 p.m. Lunch will
follow. Obon is a time to remember and honor all those who have died
before us, to express gratitude for all that they have done for us,
and to recognize the continuation of their influence upon our lives.
BTSA Annual Service & Picnic - Sunday, June 28, 10:30 a.m.
The annual BTSA picnic will be held June 28th at the John Martin Recreation Area, Pavan Park, beginning at 10 a.m. Regular service will begin at 10:30 a.m. It's a potluck, so bring a dish everyone can share. KFC chicken, drinks (water, green tea, juice) and rice will be provided. Come out and spend a relaxing day with friends. Games and prizes for kids and adults alike.
